Hi,

I used IE5.5 and then IE6, but still had the same problem. It's freezes and hangs and I wonder if it's been hijacked. I know it's been changed without my consent.

My firewall notified me of the change in IE6 on the same day windows update, upgraded me from IE5.5 to IE6. How can I safe guard my browser or get one that is not so vunerable?

It just seems and acts strange and I wonder who or what is doing it. I'm no computer expert, but could someone either tell me step by step or send me to a site with step by step instructions.

Thanks

Hmmm...it's possible that it's a hijack to a bad site/page that no longer exists, thus leaving you in limbo.
Download Hijack this! and scan the machine. Copy and paste the log in its entirety back here.

Also try uninstalling both explorers and reinstall a fresh version. Don't accept anything over the net unless you have requested it. Hijacks are getting trickier.

Good Luck

Hi,

Thanks for the replies, I running Win 98 1st ed. I tried repair and haven't had any problems with the browser. I'm just worried about security now? I will reinstall the browsers just incase.

How come some praise Spybot and others critize it? I am now scared to use Adware and Spyware removers and detectors. I read and wonder about the claim that they too spy on you.

Thanks to all for your help!
