The problem all started when I couldn't connect to the internet using my dial up connection. I thought I'd load another ISP to give me another option. I put the CD in and proceeded to install. The problem arose when trying to connect to the internet again. The phone number is no longer valid so I cancelled the install. Now whenever I open a browser window the provider on the CD has hijacked my connection and redirects me this old (no longer valid) phone number tires to dial up. No responce. cancel. shuts down the browser? The only way to connect is to have the waiting to connect browser open and open another window in the foreground (alt+tab). How can I get rid of this redirection?

Sorry if this is simple but I do not want to go around the registry deleting stuff when I'm not competent.

I can't see anything in the internet options. The only thing that keeps happening is that upon reboot my content manager re-enables itself?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards

Paul

Within IE click tools, Internet options, Connections.
And look at the dialup settings.

BOBG1,

Everything seems normal? I'm concerned that it is something to do with a registry or default setting because of the reboot initalising my content manager?

Thanks Linney but these haven't cured it.
I think the problem lies in the process being an "internet connection wizard" has not completed so tries to complete every time you use the browser? If I could disable the wizard then maybe we'd have our answer?

It's always better to set up your configuration manually, but it is too late.

This is what I would do:

1. Wipe out all connections
2. Open your registry and search for the connection name you made. Delete any keys found.
3. Reboot the PC
4. Make a new connection again
5. If it doesn't work, call your ISP and ask them for assisstance.

to run the internet setup wizard again, go run "inetwiz.exe" (start-run should do the trick) run through it all and see if that helps

failing that, try isignup.exe too

Dogers! You've done it!
Competed the wizard again and that seems to have completed the cycle.
Normal service is resumed.

Thanks everyone who replied.
