Brown shadows on lower case letters l and i. 2

Hp Pavilion with W 7 64 bit. Every word that has lowercase l's and/or i's will have a brown shadow on them. This includes file names, files, applications, icons and so on. Computer is about 30 days old. Tried restoring as early as my first restore point.
I know I could do a recovery but I really don't want to. I have run AVG, Avast, Trend Micro and Malwarebytes and nothing was found. Any idea's?

Perhaps the result of running an LCD monitor at some non-native resolution? This can easily result in annoying artifacts due to font smoothing plus pixel splitting and averaging.

Have you tuned your ClearType settings? Sounds a bit pretentious, I know, but the default does not always give the optimum appearance on all monitors.

Right-click your desktop, click Screen Resolution.
In the address bar, go up one level to Display,
then select adjust ClearType text in the left sidebar.

Make sure that ClearType is turned on, and click next. On each of the next 4 screens click the text box that appears the best to you.

At he end of the operation, hopefully the chromatic aberration on the vertical strokes of letters will have gone. If it is still not satisfactory, perhaps a call to the supplier of your HP Pavilion would be the best strategy in case of a defective monitor screen.

There are separate issues, not connected, with blurriness in Internet Explorer specifically, due to non-optimal page scaling.

Problem solved. Thanks to both of you for the quick reply. It turned my head in the right direction and flyboytim's step by step made it easy. My 90+ brain forgot that I was using a 24 inch wide screen flat panel TV for the monitor.
