Hi
I have a brother hl1670n printer displaying error e50 service call, this is a message telling me that the fuser unit needs changed or so I had been told but I have changed the fuser unit and the message is still there.
Any Ideas would be grateful accepted
Thanks

I have same printer - same error. For a month it gave me e49 but I could turn it off and on several times and then the error would go away and it would run for a day to a week. Now this e50 won't go away at all. Brother wouldn't tell me what the e49 was- said I had to take it to a service center. I called three centers (nearest one was 50+ miles away) to get an estimate. None of them could find that error in their tech manuals. One of them finally called Brother, then called me back and said it was a fuser issue, and that it would cost around $300 to fix. Just wondered what you ended up doing. It's too bad, because I loved this printer until it stopped working and Brother gave me poor service!

Hi Jon
Well there seems to be some issues regarding brother HL1470,HL1670,HL1870 and error codes.
Error Code E50 is the Fuser Unit although I don't remember paying as much as you have been quoted.
You have to clear the error message after changing the fuser unit, you do this by pressing go and + together a menu then appears, select the title that corresponds to your error and press go it should now be cleared.
Except for some HL1870 you will have to wait until the motor starts on the printer and then press these two buttons.
Hope this helps.
