And a good thing too.

A few years back we had a Spanish exchange student working with us.
She had been taught English in the south (of England)
and caused much hilarity with her pronunciation of words that had a central 'u' which she pronounced as 'a'
e.g Bus, Button, Buckle, Buxton, Blue, Blouse, etc.
Which she pronounced
Bass (as in the brewery), Batton, Backle, Baxton, Blaa, Blarse, etc.
Now we have some TV presenters who can pronounce 'u' properly.
I can see our US contingent having real problems with this?

Steve: Delphi a feersum engin indeed.

2ffat - I don't know where you're from but we always called it 'aluminum foil' - Reynold's Wrap never earned universal name that Xerox, Kleenex, or Q-Tips did, at least not where I grew up. ;p

Are we moving into 'Tin Men' territory?

All I ask of you
Is make my wildest dreams come true

Also, the chemical element Aluminium has slightly wider uses than just wrapping foil.

For the history of aluminum/aluminium spelling see Wikipedia generally isn't bad for this type of information.

I'm glad that *I* don't have an accent. ;)

You sure do in *some* language? You probably were taught some second language in school?

Nope.

Although I did learn "southern" when I lived in Tennessee for 9 years... luckily, I never picked up the accent... I can just understand it. ;)

You mean, no French/Spanish/whatever else you had to take in school? Really? Then, of course, you don't have any accent.
