I had posted the question, why cant I use remote tools from my workstation when I can from the sms server... now I know my snap-in and associated tools are from a sp2 and we are running sp5. Now, where can I locate just the tools for SP5. I downloaded SP5 but couln't find them anywhere with in. If I spend another minute on MS.com I may pass out. If I need to run the service pack, i'm hosed because it complains that i'm already running sp5, and it requires sp2 or earlier. If anyone could lend a hand I would really appreciate it.

I ran SP5 on my Admin console without any problem. If I understand, you have your SMS Admin console installed on your workstation, but it only has SP2 installed. When you run SP5 on your workstation, it says you already have SP5 installed?

Try uninstalling your SMS Admin console, and then run your SMS SP5 install. You should be able to install the SMS Admin console from the SP5 install, without having anything installed.
