How do I do it? Verizon has confirmed that they have successfully ported over a set of new telephone numbers to our device. In IP Office, I entered these new numbers under Incoming call route the same way the 3 telephone numbers we already have that are working are set up (I matched the number to a VM Destination). Now I'm not sure what the next step is to making these numbers active in our system with IP Office. Is there something further that needs to be done in IP Office? What is the connection between a new number and IP Office?

Are you being very roundabout in saying that they are not working. Otherwise that's job done, the IP Office will simply route the calls to whichever destination you set in the incoming call route for each number.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Work with your Avaya Business Partner, this is basic 101 stuff, and they should be able to assist you in setting it up correctly.

[I guess I should have been more clear - I had written up a post but left the page accidentally without posting so I missed that part when retyping it]

No the numbers do not yet work. When dialed before today, it would be a busy signal. Now, the number rings first but then a message says something like, "The number or code you have dialed is incorrect...". I'm the "network guy" and the phone system somehow became my project, but when we had the equipment and software installed, I was only coached on basically managing the system (seems you need a full blown course to understand & administer everything if you're not already a "phone system guy"), not quite the technical side of it. 'SIP' & 'PBX' & 'Codec' and others are all new terms to me... and I figured this would be done between Verizon and IP Office but, of course, there is a 3rd party involved, Avaya, so understanding how the three connect is a project. I'm just missing where the actual link is from IPO to the Verizon-billed number.

if the sip trunk has been configured sensibly then the new numbers should work one correctly configured by vorison simply by adding the incoming call route.

as they are not working it i either

1) Vorison have not correctly configured their end (it would not be the 1st time)
2) it may be an issue with the SIP trunk configuration on the IPO (again quite possible)

To prove either way would require the use of system monitor, this is something you should be referring to your system maintainer.

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

You mentioned SIP and Codec, but what type of phone service do you have? Analog trunks, PRI, SIP trunks?
