i have installed ARcserve 2000 with SQL Agent but i am needing now the Exchange agent, but it seems now the only agent available on the marked is the agent for ver 9.

Do i have to upgrade everything? just buy the agent and it works?

thanks

Can anyone tell me how to get this to work?

I have AS2000 installed with SP4, and have installed the exchange agent v9 - I cannot see the exchange option in AS2000 Manager.

I'm probably missing something obvious.

thanks

D

if you installed and licensed the AS exchange agent you should see the option in your backup when you go to modify the backup itself.
there should be the adition to the backup options of brick level and other exchange options.

Select what you want to in here.

There is one tip i can give you si that if you do not fully select the box it will not auto include any new employee's or new members added unless you add them naually. at least this has been my experience with this product other then that i ahve no real complaints.

Also be sure to remove a user from the backup if you disable their profile as it will eror on their account when it attempts to backup.

Take a look at your backup manager and see if the option to do brick level or any other exchange options are now available.

I have installed and configured the backup agent successfully - according to the screen output - but it's not showing up in AS2000.

Is anyone using this version of the agent with AS2000 ?

Thanks

HI,

Lets clear the air a bit...

!!! AS2000 will not work with AS v9 agent for Exchange !!!

Download Sp3 for ARCserve 2000 from

Extract this .
look for a folder called Excahgne.dba .
run the setup.exe

Now u'd be able to see the exchange objects in the manager

cheers

So it Shall be Written!
So it Shall be Done!!

speshalyst you mean it will work with AS2000 after SP3 is installed?

The agent for 2k should be on the same install disk as arcserve2k check the disk under options it should be there all you will need is the right license to activate it.

OK, thanks for the info. Consensus seems to be that agent v9 won't work with AS2000 then.

This is what I expected , but CA no longer selling the agent for Exchange for AS2000 is a bit of a pain!

Hopefully they will offer a downgraded licence for free...I really do not want to have to pay for this twice!

Thanks
