I have recently installed the SCSI Iomega REV drive running with Brightstore 11 and upgraded to 11.1 so as to support the Iomega drive, running on 2003 Server.
It seems now whenever I run a backup etc, the application stops. On completion of a backup the DB engine seems to stop. I can only assume the DB is corrupt as the whole appliactions runs around this database.
Does anyone know the syntax and utility required to fix or check the databases

Look in the ARCserve directory for vldbutil and in the faq section of this forum.

The syntax for checking the databases is as follows:
Run these from a dos prompt in the Arcserve program directory (ie C:\ARCSERVE)
To check:
dbcheck -a -L casdb;admin;secret DBNAME

To fix
dbfix -a -L casdb;admin;secret DBNAME

To defrag:
dbdefrag -a -L casdb;admin;secret DBNAME

To Keybuild (ONLY IF DBCHECK RETURNS ERRORS or if you do a defrag)
keybuild -k -L casdb;admin;secret DBNAME

The VLDB databases are: asjob, asmedia, asobject, asrhost, astape, astpdrv, astpsdat.

CA recommends running the DBCHECK weekly and a word of warning, The astpsdat db takes the longest to run and can take a full day to complete. CA recommends cleaning out old records from ARCServe's database admin.

Hope this helps...--JR

I think I had a totally corrupt DB as I could sign into any of the databases.
I have had re-create a new database due to the ability to not even be able to sign in using the above syntax.

Does anyone have a stats on the Iomega REV SCSI drive and throughput ?
