NT server 4.0 w/sp6
Exchange 5.5 w/sp4

Brick level was working fine on local server with Brightstor 9 and exchange agent, until this week. When out of the blue, the backup job could not open the information store.

Exchange is working fine for all other purposes. When trying to configure Exchange backup agent for brick level again, it errors out saying it failed to configure the server. It's not authentication...possibly problem with MAPI.

Un/reinstalled Outlook....but that was no help.
This is the 3rd server this has started to happen on.

Anybody else have this issue out there????

Have you installed the agent to use tcp/ip or named pipes?
you cannot perform brick level backups using tcp/ip mode, only named pipes.
If you have virus software installed on the exchange server,
turn off background scanning.

I would check the installation of the agent on your Exchange server - possibly re-run the install of the agent. Check the id it runs with and permissions it has. Also see if there was anything tht changed on or about the time this stopped working.

I would also ensure that you can see the exchange host from the backup host - ie you can just backup standard files - this will rule out any resolution issues etc. Hope this helps.
