Brief delay when dialing out

Hi all,

I have customer with 2 analog lines. They are complaining that the time between the last digit pressed and the call connecting and providing a ringing tone is too long.

I have reduced the "Wait for Dialtone" timer in each line from 3000ms (default) to 500ms. This made a difference but the client still thinks its a long delay before the call goes through.

Does anyone have any other suggestions or are they being picky and need to get over it?

That's not the setting to look at really, you need to check the dial delay timers (system and ARS) and also consider adjusting your ARS to look for specific number lengths. How you configure your shortcodes also has an effect, if you use overlap or en-bloc dialling for example :)
 
As amriddle suggested its the dial delay timer you're looking for. They can also press # at the end of the number to dial immediately.
 
2 things you can try.

remove the ; after the N in ARS
for 10 digit dialing set up a short code in ars like this

XXXXXXXXXXN
Dial
N
LG Number( default is 0)

 
So in the ARS it is all the default shortcodes. XN and XXXXXXXXXXN. We only use 7 digits for local. LD is 1 or 0 which already has shortcode in ARS.

So if I delete the XN and XXXXXXXXXXN and replace with 9XXXXXXX it should go through faster? Along with a change to the dial delay timer?

Even without a change of the dial delay timer.
Without any change the caller can end dialling with # to complete dialling and it will have no delay after pressing the # key.
 
Easiest is to match dial string length with xxx's , we do/did it for SIP and it make for zero delay. There is always delay with analogue as it has to send the digits sequentially as DTMF with a slight pause between them, that cannot be helped :)
