Hello,
I am working on Excel97
I inherrited someone's workbook and it has two links in it. The links don't appear in any of the sheets as I did searched for '[' and every link contains the square bracket and it found nothing. I really don't need those links. I tried linking the workbook to itself by "change source" but it didnt work either.
I want to just plain get rid of the links since they are not used anywhere and everytime I start my workbook it displays a dialogue box asking me if I wish to update. It is really annoying :(
The funniest part is, those links or the dialogue box aren't showing in Excel2002

If you go under edit/links down in the left hand corner should be a button labeled Startup Prompt. Click it and there should be the option to shut off the prompt and not update links. Hope that helps

I don't know if this will help you, but I use it all the time to find links that I don't want.

I do a find across all worksheets in the file for ":\". The reason is because every link that I have seen has a reference to the drive where the linked file exists, therefore the link always includes the :\(colon backslash) characters (as in G:\, C:\, etc.)

I know this has always worked for me when trying to find links. You might want to give it a try.

Go try this free addin - 'Findlink' by Bill Manville - It will usually find anything:-
