I have a X450e-48P switch with a bad fan that needs replaced however it is part of a stack. I want to make sure that I am approaching this replacement correctly. Here are the items that I think need done but would like input if this is incorrect.

#1 Backup config of current (faulty) switch
#2 Disable Stack
#3 Replace old hardware with new hardware
#4 Enable Stack
#5 Restore config from original switch

Is there anything I am missing? I haven't dealt with a stack configuration before so not quite sure if this is how I should handle.

Thanks

Since the config is held by the master switch in the stack, you din't need to back it up, although it won't hurt. What you need to do is:

1)Unconfigure the node you are replacing:
unconfigure stacking slot x

2) remove the node you are replacing

3)Add the new switch to the stack:
configure stack node-address <mac address of new node> slot-number x
synchronize stacking node-address <mac address of new node>
Answer yes when prompted "Are you sure you want to synchronize"
Reboot the node you just added.
