Hi there,

I am creating a poster in Illustrator cs2 consisting of a true black background with original vector images on top of the background.

The problem that I have is that when I place the vector images over the black background the bounding box that appears around the vector graphic creates a 'misty' (is the only way I can describe it!) over the black background and around the vector graphic.

This also shows up when I print the poster.

I would really appreciate it if anyone had a suggestion or solution to getting rid of the 'mistyness' that appears around the graphic.

Many Thanks!

You might try making sure that all the vectors are in Illustratrator format, especially if you did not create them. Sometimes people send things in eps that also includes raster data. Of course, an AI doc can also contain raster data, but hopefully that is not the case. You could open them in illustrator and then show the transparency grid to make sure there's nothing in background causing problems.

I'm guessing that "misty" means sort of a foggy area. That usually indicates that somebody, using rasters, cleared an area of content, but did not get rid of all of it.

Thanks for your reply. All of the graphics that I am using I have created in Illustrator so they are .ai files at the moment thats why I'm quite baffled...

I'm going to try and see if saving them as .eps files, and importing them would work.

Thanks for you suggestions and advice!

I exported the .ai file as a high res tiff file and the 'mistyness' disappeared.

Problem solved! thanks for your help jmgalvin.
