Booting problem

I have Mitel 3300 MXe controller, when I power it on the controller will not load but all the three LED light will be on. Have used another hard drive with loaded software the same problem. The dual fim LED don't come up and cannot login to the controller too. Please anyone have idea what I should do.

Plug in a serial cable to the Maintenance port and watch the boot sequence for errors. Sounds like it's not booting up, but you'll have to look at the maintenance port output to be able to diagnose it further.

Download ZOC terminal emulation and configure for direct serial connection, 8N1 and Kermit. Use serial connection to RS-232 port on front of the 3300. Make the connection with ZOC and power on the 3300. You'll see what is happening during boot sequence. Sometimes, if the memory is bad, the controller cannot load the Flash image to continue boot and it will loop the process and go no further. Memory would be my first guess. If it gets past that stage and vxworks starts, press the spacebar three times, and type "c" at the vxworks prompt. hit enter and compare the boot parameters to those listed in the technician handbook. You can find them in the handbook by doing a search for "manual install". You'll see the list.

What do the boot parameters say? Might be it is set for partition4 and your replacement hard drive only has single load on partition1

It is trying to tranfer the files from an FTP server at 192.168.1.20 using a user name ftp with a password of @

motfcc is the command to start ftp client

the other should read FixPartition when manually installing software

Are you trying to install software? If so is your ftp server at 192.168.1.20 and have the files available?

The bootline parameters are set for an upgrade. You will have to reset them to get the controller to boot.

The tech hand book has the procedure spelled out step by step. Follow it and you shouldn't have an issue.

It looks as if the controller is unable to login to your ftp server. Are you able to log into the server?

I cannot login to the 3300 MXe through the LAN port. I cannot ping it too but the activity light is on.

Can you login to your ftp SERVER? The 3300 is the client. from a command line type "ftp 192.168.1.20" minus the quotes. Do you get a responce?

Can you get to the FTP server from some other device? Because the controller can't, that's what it's telling you. Either your FTP server settings are hosed or you don't have network connectivity between the FTP server and the 3300.

check windows firewall (or any other) is switched off and also the user account 'ftp' with password '@' is set up within filezilla and the root directory is the folder containing the software and Boot_install file
