Can anyone help me please???

I have an AMD Athlon 760 Mhz system with 320 MB of 133 Mhz SDRAM and a 32 MB nVidia TNT2 Model 64/Pro (AGP) graphics card. the system is based on a Gigabyte GA-7ZM motherboard (Via KT133 Chipset).

My PC boots up fine, but after I shut it down and switch it off it will not boot up when i turn it on again - all the power lights etc come on and the system fan works but nothing happens... :-(

Once the computer is running it is fine, and a restart is no problem for it.

If I leave it switched off for about 1/2 hour or so then it works first time when I switch it on.

I have tried all the updated BIOS's from Gigabyte, and all the driver updates from Via but nothing has helped.

Has anyone got any ideas as to what could be wrong???

I'd be very grateful if anyone has any suggestions of ways to fix this.

Thanx
Stuart

Try reseating everything, cpu,ram and video card.. Try ram in another slot. Try different ram. Sounds like something is running hot, maybe?????? I have seen a Athlon get cooked twice because of faulty heat sink/fan because the hs/fan was not touching the processor good. If none if that works, then start swapping out parts. Have seen mother boards short out on the case and cause weird problems. A+ MCP

Have seen power supplies create the problem. Can't remember the details but had to do with power good somewhere. Solution in both cases was new power supply. But both were AT supplies. Ed Fair
