On this this laptop running Windows Me, I had installed Novell Directory Service. Another user said he tried to remove the same and after that when he tried to boot in the next time he got the following messages.

file could not be found

Module C:\Novell\Client32\NBIC32.NLM did not remain resident.
Press and key to continue....
NIOS-202-105: An attempt to load LSLC32.NLM failed becuase the specified file coudl not be found.

The same thing repeats around 10 times and after that I get a screen which says,

There is a problem with a system file.Windows might not be able to run correctly. You might be able to fix this by running system restore. If this does not fix the problem, try runnign reinstalling windows.

VxD dynamic link call: VREDIR(01) + 00006FDB to "0487", service 4.

To continue runing windows, choose no. You will lose any unsaved information. Do you want to continue runing windows ?
I choose "Yes"

After which I log on normally to windows Me. I want to get trid of this message as it sounds quite ominous. I will also try to do a system restore.

Please advise.

If you cant uninstall this item from its related program, you might be able to dis-able this in the MSCONFIG module.

go to start, run, in the white box type MSCONFIG, the select startup, up check anything to do with NOVELL. Then select the tab static VXD if you have NOVELL vxd uncheck it.
Now selct the enviroment tab if there are any NOVELL items uncheck them.

I am sorry I wanted you to UNCHECK the items for Novell in MSCONFIG, STARTUP TAB
