I am running a PIII 667, 256meg ram, etc. I run XP Pro, & recently purchased a MS Intellimouse Explorer. If it is connected to USB port, bootup halts after checking drives. If I remove the mouse & reboot, all is ok. I can reconnect mouse & everything is great until next boot. I would appreciate any feedback, thanks.

Intellimouses seem to cause quite a few problems, is USB enabled in the BIOS?

I think the way to get round this is to stop some services, such as msi8042 that control a ps/2 mouse

The experts will need to help you with the exact services to stop

What OS were you using also?

Thanks for your help! I eventually fixed the problem by resetting the bios settings to the default. Guess what, success. Some of the changes made must have caused a conflict. Thanks again for your help. Till next time!!!:-d
