Boot from ESS via FC

Hi,

i want to boot one of my LPAR (P650) from ess (2105 F20).
The LPAR has an FC 6239 ( Model: LP9802 EMULEX) Adapter, this adapter hold at the moment only the Data Volumegroups.
The rootvg (Storrage is also on the 2105) is connect to an SCSI adapter.

I has Configure the rootvg Disks to the FC Adapter, but in the SMS Menue i cannot see any Bootdevice.

After i configure the rootvg Devices to the SCSI Controler, i see in the SMS menue the bootdevice, and i can start the LPAR.

Is it not possible to boot from the FC Adapter??

Hello

Have a look to "Host Systems Attachement Guide " at :

http://publibfp.boulder.ibm.com/epubs/pdf/f2bhs05.pdf.

This book has a section "Support for fibre-channel boot" describing what is needed for booting.

Looking at your configuration ( P650 with LP9802 ) , you need just firmware upgrade IMHO.
