ok i installed a new sony dvd/cdrom and a fan for my hardrive. When I connected everything back together and turned on my computer, my computer did not boot. I am getting the following error message "floppy disk fail (40)".
Then the screen with the IRQ numbers appear and at the bottom of the screen I am getting the following message "Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter". When I enter the bios
"Detecting Primary Master...None
"Detecting Primary Slave....None
"Detecting Secondary Master...None
"Detecting Secondary Slave....None

Can anyone assist me in having my computer detect the necessary devices in order to boot up?

Double check all your Connectors, Drive settings (Master/Slave), IDE cable...

Ben

If it works don't fix it! If it doesn't use a sledgehammer...

ruiz0195,

This can sometimes happen when two IDE devices on the same IDE controller are both jumpered as master (or both as slave). You should check the jumpers on both IDE devices.

I think I've only gotten that message when I've had a mental lapse and forgotten to hook up the floppy drive. I'd make sure that's connected because, funnily enough, sometimes it doesn't want to past post without the damned thing, no matter how much you DON'T use it.
