Boosting Laptop Volume

Is there software that will boost the volume coming out of my laptop?

I play DVD's etc but the volume is always too low - I max it out tweak the bass and treble to max and still it just a wee bit too low.

Now i punt the sound to my hifi an max it out and its still too low - should I be looking for an additional external amp or somthing?

Or am I missing the obvious

find %SystemRoot%\System32\sndvol32.exe the windows volume control and make sure the levels are maxed out, or at least higher.

The windows volume control acts like a pre-amp, before the built-in amp kicks up the final volume.

Yup - did that already and went into advanced and maxxed the bass and treble - but still too quite.

What next? Is there any software that will raise the sound volume from my Divx player. The only thing I can find is to recut the audio track if I was generating the media but I just want to watch the downloaded stuff.

Has your laptop got an external audio out socket? then buy some powered speakers (sub and sats?)
Not very portable admitadley but OK for home

I already send it out to my Hifi via the audio jack. I max it out but its still on the quite side. OK my hifi is one of those £99 jobs so it might not be good enough but I would have thought I should get it running.

Any other advice welcome

That's really odd. I have a Satellite and I find it pleantl loud. I can only use the volume around 50% before it starts distorting.

Is it only with your DivX player?

Ah yes possibly ont he player - I will try Media player instead of the DivX one.
