Can any one recommend a good VBA resource book? I’m what I would consider on the low to mid intermediate stage and would like to learn more. The books that I have seen at the bookstores seem to focus more on using the application than constructing the code. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It's some years ago but I started with "Access 2 Programming for Dummies", "Office 97 Developers Handbook" and "Access 97 Visual Basic" - last two from Microsoft Press.

I like to use a mixture of Microsoft books for the official line and books from third parties to learn the practical truth.

Hi,

FYI, Visual Basic for Applications is just that; probably more focused on the Application Specific features, since VBA in Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook share some Visual Basic features, but have some unique features that relate to the Application. Most of the attention is focused on these features.

For instance in a very good Excel VBA reference that I have used, about 60 pages out of 800 are devoted to basic Visual Basic coding. The remainder is almost all related to Excel Object specific features.

What Application are you using?

Specifically for Access try "access XXXX unleashed" from sams publishing. I've bought a used 2002 version from amazon for 8 us (without the cd :-(). I find this a very usefull book.

If you want the best value VBA language reference book try VB & VBA in a Nutshell from O'Reilly.

ISBN 1-56592-358-8

Nearly 600 pages of stuff about the language with clear distinctions between VB6 and VBA

I paid only 19.95 USD
