I have a 3 page form that one of my users created.

They want the information in several of the text boxes to be used throughout the form without having to be retyped.

i figured i could use a bookmark or crossreference to do this. I have set the initial test box (which is in a table) with a bookmark but i am having trouble making the cross reference work. i am not using VB code or anything. just tryint to do it through the menus.

Can anyone help on this?

Thanks!
Kathy

Kathy.

It should be quite simple.

Insert, Reference, Cross-Reference, select Bookmark from drop down, select your book mark from the list and click Insert.

Is that not working?

I do that and then i save and protect the form.

When i first insert it it is blanks since the text box it is referencing is blank.

When i then go to the text box when its a form I enter text in it and nothing happens down where the reference is on the next page.

So i have a text box that a user tabs to and enters KATHY

and then on the next page I am expecting to see Kathy where the reference is.

Am i doing something wrong?

i see that if i am not in form mode i can click on the ref field and press f9 to update the field. waht i need is for that field to automatically update itself upon the insertion of text in the first field. should i use a macro for that?

Yes, the formfield has to set for Calculate on exit.

You can also do this without going through the Reference menus. Say you have a text formfield, and its name is "Client". BTW: you should alwats explicitly name your formfields. Do not accept the defaults like "Text1" etc.

1. Make sure Client is set for Calculate on exit.
2. Go to where you want the contents repeated. It can be anywhere in the document, and you can do this as many times as you like.
3. Press Ctrl-F9.
4. Type Client. Do not press Enter, just type the name.
5. Move the cursor someplace else.

Done. That is it. Everywhere you have put this field (and again, as many times as you like) when you Tab out of the original text formfield, the contents will be inserted into the other field(s).
