bookmark length limit when using PDF maker and Word

When I use PDF maker in Word XP to create Bookmarks based on Word styles, the bookmarks are created successfully but long bookmarks are cut off after approx. 60 characters. Is this a given limit, a bug or can I change this maximum length.
I am using Windows XP, Word XP and Adobe Acrobat/Distiller 5.05.

Any hints?

Further tests seem to reveal that the bookmarks are only cut off ,if special charcters are contained in the bookmark (ie. ü,ä,ö).
Does anyone know if this could be caused by using English Acrobat on a XP Machine with German MUI installed? Is there some special coding for those charcters which is using up a lot of the defined maximum space (126 Unicode charcters) for a bookmark)?
