Bonding two T1's

I was told that its possible to bond two T1 lines together to double the speed.

I don't think its possible.
If you have 2 links you can load balance ofcourse.

You can have both T1s Mulitlinked but you still only have the bandwidth of 2 T1s, they just act as one.

Yes I have done this, you just need the encap to be set to ppp and run the multilink ppp cmd's. It is a very easy way to get more bandwidth without moving to a T3. I have had it running for approx 6 months without a hicup.

SO do you request multilink ppp from your ISPor is it independant? Do you have the interface config form the router yoy can post

You cannot double the bandwidth, you just have two 1.5M connections. However if they come from the same POP you can set up round robin, which is a per packet load share along the two connections which will in turn appear to give you a 3M connection.

What you do is set up the IP route as equal weighted static routes.

load balancing is a confusing phrase since you cannot load balance. Balancing indicates that you can get a 50/50 load on both connections. Even with BGP it will not be a balance. Sharing is the correct term, When I worked for an ISP, WorldCom, we would often get burned by customers who would expect to load balance, per the sales team, and were unhappy when we were not able to provide a 50/50 load. With sharing you can explain that it is more of a per packet, based on routing metrics, much like BGP has metrics.
