I want to store the Business Object 5.1.7 repository on an Oracle RDB Database.

In the Oracle Rdb Database Guide.pdf supplied in .../PROGRAM FILES/BUSINESS OBJECTS/ONLINE GUIDES/EN/OracleRdbEN.pdf it specifically states...

"You cannot create a repository on an Oracle Rdb RDBMS"

Can anyone claify if this really is the case?

Yes, you cannot create a repository in Rdb. Keep in mind that Rdb is not ORACLE RDBMS. Rdb is a database that Oracle bought from DEC (Digital Equipment Corp) many years ago.

Plain old Oracle is fine; Rdb isn't.

Thanks - I have been trying to get a definitive answer to this question all week!!!

Is anybody in a position to be able to advise my as to why this is the case??

As you saw on busobj.forumtopics.com....

Rdb is mostly an obsolete technology. You could very well be the only BO customer using it. BO stopped supporting Rdb way back in V4.1. It has been about 5 years since it was dropped.

Thanks Steve

I've managed to dissuade our Management from using this option now.

You've been most helpful.
