We are running a BCM 400 with 89 IP Client Liscences. The BCM monitor is showing 84 of 89 used, but when I try to add any more IP sets, I get the message Server: No Ports Available.

I have attached screen caps of all of the tabs in the BCM monitor. Anyone have any ideas?

On a BCM400 you have 91 signalling channels. As far as i remember 1 is reserved, which gives you 90 usable channels. Then you need to deduct your CTI (voicemail & CC ports) which you have 6. This gives you a total of 84 channels for IP sets. So unfortunately you are maxed out. You will need to upgrade to a BCM450 to connect more IP phones.

Or you could reduce you voicemail ports too, but that wouldn't be practical.

Would switching some IP sets to digital sets allow me to add more IP sets or is the unit maxed period?

No it is not maxed out entirely.

You could install a DSM16+ or 32+ and install digital sets.

However, the upgrade kit isn't that expensive as it is a retro fit. If you do a cost analysis on a DSM and some digital handset compared to the upgrade kit. I bet it is only out by a couple of hundred $$

And it will extend the supported life of your system.

In resources > telephony resources, is bus 8 disabled?
