Dies anyone know the type of connector plug used for the BM12 cable? It has a flange on the side. I wanted to make one but I can't find the type of plug blank. Looks similar to an RJ45.

Probably the same as the SBM24 and a custom connector which probably isn't available as a spare.

If you really stuck you can very carefully file the corners off an RJ45 plug.

Thank you both. I always thought the BM 12 was a strange design and should have been similar to the SPM 24. It's the same size but only half the number of buttons and a big waste of space below.

Sometimes I wonder what these designers are up to when they create handsets like this.

Confirming what ipohead said. I wouldn't recommend it for clients, but I have a few BM12s attached to my 9611G handsets around my home and "made" my own cables.

I took a short ethernet patch lead and filed off the corners of the top of the plug so it would fit into the port. Repeated a few more times and they've been working perfectly ever since!

Thank you yes I tried that myself last night and it worked but I agree with you because of the power issue if a client is moving things around their desk and they unplug their handset they may plug it into the wrong port.

This would happen on the 24xx and 54xx series handsets with the button expansion module and you could start to smell the handset burning.

Perhaps that's why they came up with this unique plug.

by the way if there's a power supply used can the sbm24s be used with the 9500 digital handsets?
