I am looking for a way to establish a wireless connection from/to a laptop computer Microsoft XP to some sort of a lan modem setup which can be connected to the internet via a standard voice phone connection. DSL is not an option for various reasons nor is direct cable hookup, but I would like the convenience of moving the laptop to various locations within the same structure. Not great distances.

Does anyone know where such equipment might be available or if the thing is feasible at all? Maybe I have not looked far enough.

Thanks for any information you might have.

Buy yourself a wireless lan kit. You get with it at least one pc card WiFi adapter should your laptop not have it built in. The core of the kit is a hub which is a doddle to install. Wireless guru
