Win2K Pro with SP2 installed operating fine. Suddenly a blue screen saying that wanarp.sys driver won't load. Having trouble finding what to do. Runs fine in safe mode with networking, but can't ID what this driver does and how to fix.

Any help appreciated.

Here's more....

Wanarp.sys is in the systemroot directory, so when I used the recovery console to replace it as per a MS instruction sheet everything went well until I got an "access denied".

I also get another stop error when I try to boot from a CD. So I am going back and unloading recently installed software (Photoshop)and hardware (CDRW) to see if I can get anywhere.

Who ever call this stuff "productivity software"?

Any ideas still appreciated.

OK reinstalling wanarp.sys did not work either.

Current status:

-all recent programs and hardware uninstalled. no change
-can reach safe mode with networking ok but email service doesn't work
-booting from CD ROM with win2k disk doesn't work. same error message.
-trying to reinstall from CD ROM in safe mode doesn't work. Claims some software is partially installed and won't continue.

This is a system that was working just fine until a few days ago.

Blue screen message is c000026c unable to load driver ...wanarp.sys
