Blue screen message Stop c0000221

Whenever I try to start my NEW FRESH installed Win2K prof, I get a blue screen:

STOP c0000221, suggesting my olesrv32.dll file is corrupt.

Always this error, which halts the computer, also in safe mode, note this is a new install... I have never seen win2k working yet

I tried re-installing several times and removing hardware until I had the following skeleton system:

* Asus P3V4X mobo (bios 1005 and 1006 beta tried both) VIA® Apollo Pro133A
* Asus 7100PRO 32 MB
* Celeren366/256 DIMM memory
* IBM Pluto 13,7GB

Any thoughts

Any ideas??? Bios settings, drivers (but how to install if win2k does not start?)

I had problems installing 2k on a IBM celery system before, had to download a patch for it from IBM. Got the blue screen of death as well, but can't remember the specifics. Sorry I can't be of much help.

Details:
IBM: Small Business Machine
667 Mhz PIII
2oGB HDD
IBM Mobo with riser board - This was the problem in my install. Apparently it caused a problem with the OS communicating to the celery. Check the IBM site to see if they have a fix for it.

The KB article below seems to indicate that indeed as you stated, a file is corrupt. If the file olesrv32.dll is the one shown on the blue screen, you might want to replace it with another copy or a later version.

I do not think that the file is corrupt, since this is a (repeated again and again ) new/scratch installation on win2k...

Any other ideas?

ALL,

solved my problem. As files seemed to be corrupt even after reinstallation...

... my last desperate attempt was to copy the w2k CD to my harddisk and install from there.

And to my surprise this worked, maybe somehow probably error can occur while transferring files from CD to the w2k installation directories which I avoided by copying to harddisk first.

This might be an idea for others to solve similar problems too!
