Blue sceen system halted

everytime i try to run a video of any format my computer goes to a blue screen and says hardware error - - please contact your hardware vendor - - - system halted...i have a amd athlon 1gig 512mb ram and a geforcefx 5200..plz help this is really driving me nuts

im on windows XP...the errors says
Harware Error
Contact your hardware vendor
NMI Parity Check/Memory Parity Error
System Halted...that all the screen says...its almost anytime i play a video with any type of player

Parity check. Hmmm. This may not be a graphics card issue. I had a memory DIMM that caused a parity check on certain applications only. I had to replace them with another brand and then it worked fine. Can you slow down your clocks or DIMM parameters from the BIOS, and check if it makes any difference?

i have a compaq bios...very hard to work with..im gettin a new gigabyte motherboard soon...maybe that will help
