Hello All,

Do I need to disable the System Monitor card(TTY Port) and pull it out to replace a blower motor?

Thanks in advance.

The procedure doesn't mention it just says remove the the front pedestal cover, switch off the Blower, wait 2 mins for fans to stop spinning, and remove it. Been a while since I worked on an 81 but seem to remember removing the system monitor just in case when I did anything on power and pedestals.

It would be a good idea to disable the sys mon and pull it

i can confirm, you do not need to dis the sys mon to switch out fans. the hard part is finding someone to repair them.

If you have some mechanical repair experience you can repair blowers in most cases just change bearings. Bearing type is 607-2Z

i did change the bearings in mine. but the electronics were bad. the fans would spin up when powered on, then would stop. this would turn the red light for the column on. my fans are DC fans by the way.
