I have a BCM400 with 2 PRI T1's.

I was asked to block 4 specific long distance numbers - so that they would have access to our phone system.

My question is: Where would I configure this? I was told it would be in custom call routing - but cannot find any entry or filter that I could configure to restrict them.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think anyone understands the question, including me. could you explain what it is your trying to do.

I'm sorry I did not word it correctly - this is what I was trying to say:

I have a BCM400 with 2 PRI T1's.

I was asked to block 4 specific long distance numbers - so that they would NOT have access to our phone system. In other words when someone from a specific number called one of our Toll Free numbers - they would get an intercept.

My question is: Where would I configure this? I was told it would be in custom call routing - but cannot find any entry or filter that I could configure to restrict them.

Thanks and sorry about the confusion

I'm thinking that you wouldn't be doing in intercept, but more of a route to an information only mailbox or to an extension that is not hooked up to anything. Maybe make it ring to an IP station with "keep DN alive" that is not actually there. The routing is normally used to route certain callers to certain stations, but could be used in this way too. As a pre-sales guy, I know that the system is capable, but exactly how to do that would take me some research. These are just some ideas to work from.

The phone company can block 800 numbers from being used by certin numbers they do that for call in contests so the same number can't vote more then 1 time.

Thanks guys... so I pretty much need to let my LD provider block them for me? I was hoping I could block them...

These numbers apparently are fax machines or modems just dialing one of our toll free numbers over and over.

The only other way to do this is with call center pro and I do not think you want to go down this route. It will be expensive.

What I did was add the phone numbers to the CLID Routing Table in the CallPilot Manager.

From there I created a skillset that played a forced "number not available" greeting and then straight to a disconnect...

Works like a charm now...

That might work, but you will probably still get charged for the call. The phone company can block out entire area codes, or the numbers you are having a problem with. Then you wont be getting charged, or having your lines tied up.
