Can anyone tell me where I can manipulate a group policy to prevent users from using MSN Messenger? I don't it to be able to be run on any workstations.

Block the ports on your firewall, that is far safer in the long run.

The only problem with that is MSN Messenger will sometimes roll to port 80 if it cant find the regular ports. I found in GP where I can disable programs...thanks anyway.

Where did you find it in group policy. I am using win-2k and cannot find it anywhere.

Isn't there a way to Use a Group Policy to effectivly "remove" or make MSN messenger or any other messenger inactive.
Try a group policy that basically looks for the MSN messenger folders and or registery setting, and just have it remove them each time the user Logs into the network.

I did a similar thing with a different messenger service and it worked well. If the user loaded the service back on the machine, the next time they loged onto the network, everything would get removed, not unloaded, but removed. All it takes is a couple of folders and a couple of registery lines, and the program will not run even if the icons and everything else says it's there.
