Has anyone tried blocking caller id within a call manager?

When calling from ip phone to iphone within the same call manager, I need the ability to block certain directory numbers from appearing on everyone's sets.

I was able to create a translation pattern called *67.XXXXX (we have 5-digits extensions) which allow the users to pre-pend their call with *67 to block thier id for that one call. However, I would like to make it so the user does not have to do this every time.

Any suggestions out there?

We're looking for that same feature as well, have a customer who needs to block it from room to room calling (hotel app) but needs caller ID calling to the operator..

For the hotel, how about a translation pattern that matches all room extensions, and a calling party transform mask that sets the called number to the operator's extension, or blank.

This might work with a series of translation patterns for the destination DNs that need caller ID blocked.

We essentially eneded up doing what is stated above, although it is cumbersome to enter all of the translation patterns needed. For each number that you add in call manager, you need to add a translation pattern equivlant to it. This isn't so bad when you have a consecutive number assignments, but we don't.

You could have done it another way wiht a generic translation pattern that covers all of your rooms:

Have the phone use a CSS that looks at a partion that contains the operator number and the translation pattern for all your rooms.

Have the translation pattern use a differnet CSS that just looks the the partition that the room phones are in masking the calling number.

When a phone dials the operator the route pattern (or extension) is more specific than the translation pattern and will use that. Otherwise it will use the translation pattern masking the ANI of the caller.
