What's the easiest way to block incoming external numbers from calling my speakerphone paging groups below?

SPEAKERPHONE PAGE GROUPS

Group Group No. of
Number Extension Group Name COR Members

1 1809.555.3770 All Page 1 32
2 1809.555.3771 1st flr 1 14
3 1809.555.3772 1st flr Rear 1 7
4 1809.555.3773 2nd Front 1 6
5 1809.555.3774 2nd Flr Rear 1 13

I am getting telemarketing robo calls on these numbers and their automated sales pitch is being broadcasted to all the phones in the paging groups. Scared the heck out of some users!

Thanks for the help!

speakerphone paging groups need NONDID numbers or if you DID is isdn, you could change inc-call-handling for the trunk-group to
route incoming calls over the trunk-group to another destination. This would not affect station to paging group extension calls.

I would use COR (trunk group + page group in different COR). Like Tier3 said, don't use DID numbers for this unless you need too. It's almost always a waste of a DID.

Thanks for the response AvayaTier3.

Can I easily change the current numbers to non-DIDs then?
Would I then have to reprogram the stations though?

Thanks!

Thanks Randycarroll.
Should I create a new COR and change the paging numbers to that new COR?
How would I restrict external incoming calls on that new COR then?
Thanks!

Aloha Rich

If the trunks are in COR 100, and the paging is in COR 101, just make sure that COR 100 has no dial access to COR 101

Aloha randycarroll,

Good news! You idea worked perfectly.
I first looked at the COR of the PRI trunk group:
disp trunk-group 161 and noted the COR as being 16.
I then made a new COR for the group paging:
change cor 174
I then went to each group=page and updated their COR to the new one:
change group-page 5 Page 1 of 4
GROUP PAGING USING SPEAKERPHONE
Group Number: 5 Group Timeout (secs): 0 Group Extension: 1809.555.3774
Group Name: 2nd Flr Rear ASAI? n COR: 174
I then modified trunk group's COR (16) to restrict calling permission to the new group-page's COR (174):
change cor 16 Page 5 of 23
CLASS OF RESTRICTION

CALLING PERMISSION (Enter "y" to grant permission to call specified COR)

100? y 115? y 130? y 144? y 158? y 172? y 186? y
101? y 116? y 131? y 145? y 159? y 173? y 187? y
102? y 117? y 132? y 146? y 160? y 174? n 188? y
I then tested and it worked perfectly.
Thank you very much randaycarroll!

So now you have tied up several DID numbers you are paying for that will not be used for DID calls.

No problem :) Glad to help.

Keep what Tier3 said in mind - it's best to not tie up DIDs. You are on the right path though by securing those numbers by COR (DID or not). A hui hou!
