we are about to install PRI circuits in all our offices to replace our current T1s. Management wants to know if I can block certain employees from seeing external incoming caller ID info. We are not looking to block our info when calling out; rather, we don't necessarily want every employee to know who is calling them. Thank you.

try cls cdcd and ndd. This should block numbers from showing.

I can't test it because we haven't installed the circuits yet. I need to let my manger know beforehand, as now we may not get them. I want internal names & numbers to still show but I need to block certain staff from seeing who's calling them externally. thank you.

don't see a cls mark for yes to int and no to ext. dds in cls delays display until after you answer. cdcd stops conferee count from showing, ndd turns digit display off. but if you paid for displays, that may not be great. here in the south to turn off displays we just use duct tape. (but we use duct tape for everthing, works better then a shotgun for keeping couples together, (guess that was my attempt at friday afternoon humor.)i know don't quite my day job

so far what I've heard about only showing the incoming trunk ID instead of the telephone number is not encouraging. I saw something in the NTP under the customer data block options (XDP) IDP which means (exclude) include Digit Display capability for Attendant Consoles of this customer. But I can't tell if that means the consoles won't see who's calling but once they extend the call to a DN, that DN WILL see who's calling?

I came up with a fairly inadequate solution but let me know if this will work:
If I change all my phones to NDD then they won't see ANYTHING (no internal DNs, no trunk info, nothing), right? I can still set up different ring cadence for internal vs. external calls so they can at least tell via the ring tone what type of call it is, right?

To block outbound caller ID - built a CLID table with no entry and DIDN set to no. Assign this to the keys on the phones you do not want to send CLID.

I suggest to try to route the incoming call through an IDC table, then a PLDN using SCLU, with the called DN in the list.
i.e:
Called DN 8123
IDC 8123 x123
PLDN x
SCLU yy
STOR 123 8123

Give feedback.

Reusser, I only want to block the external caller ID on certain phones, but not all of them, so I don't think I can use your suggestion. dlesap, I think you're talking about pretty much the same thing. I only want to block attorneys from seeing external caller ID but all administrative staff should be able to see the external caller ID info. I do NOT want to block internal caller ID info, so deactivating the display is not an option. If anyone thinks of anything else please let me know. Thank you.
