Hi all,

I've got a major issue bugging our 3300. I'm based at the uk office and these calls are hitting our office in Canada. Most calls come in via a toll free number to our MLAA and route off to either IQ routes, voicemail boxes, a users extension or a dial by name feature.

Over the last month we have had hundreds of calls and voicemails randomly left in these users mailboxes, or what appears to be a voicemail containing parts of the MLAA message and a possible dialer.

Some of our agents have been logging these numbers that have been coming in and I would like to try blocking these numbers.

I'm worried that someone/thing is trying to get into our system and break out via toll fraud.

I remember a while back that you could only block incoming numbers via the line provider, and that there is no way of blocking incoming numbers on the 3300. Is this still the case or can you now program in the number you want to block, and prevent that from dialling in?

Still no way to block IC calls via the 3300.
We (not me but one of our techs) have done it via a 6510. We had a customer that had problems with recruiter calling their engineers. It was time consuming to set up and the calls had to come through the auto attendant but it worked.

Thanks for the quick response UncleRalph. Our service providers have just got back to us and said that they cannot block on the pri's it has to be done on the switch which they installed!!

Just remove 2 or 3 digits and route the DDI's by system speedcall
The number you do not want to enter the system is then just not put in
If there is no speedcall with a destination it will give a fast busy signal

tlpeter,
I'm interested in what you suggested. The original post was regarding blocking based on the originating call. This means that you'd have to block on originating number. So I'm not sure how your solution would work. Can you elaborate? or did I completely miss what was going on?

Ralph

BTW: I think this would be something someone could make a little cash with. We get this question quite a bit. I would have to believe that it would be possible to write a program to monitor for certain events via HCI and reroute calls based on the incoming caller ID. Any programmers out there?

I did not read well i guess :)
I missed the caller part i think so forget my post

SIP trunking and asterisk or any other SIP sproxy in tandem. Do all filtering in custom script and then forward call back to ICP.

Oooo! I like!
Got any distro's that would be easiest to work with?

Another possible way of maybe not blocking those calls, but shoving them off somewhere else, is adding the last 6 digits for example of the number that's coming in as a sys speed call, and putting it through to an extension with no voicemail etc. that way at least it stops the receptionist getting wound up!!!

I've had a play with this now. Only way to get it working is...

Went through the SMDR and found the number was routing to our main number which points to an IQ route.

I added an ANI with that pattern before any calls get routed to our reception menu, if the condition is matched, it routes to a message only mailbox with a polite(ish) message that drops the call straight after the message is played.

I impletement this last week and so far have successfully rerouted over 200 calls away from our receptionist that are deemed to be an autodialer gone mad.
