I have a customer that wants to block someone from calling her. She lets the call roll to mail, but the caller is leaving harassing messages so long that the voicemail fills up and won't accept anymore messages. I don't think it's possible, but thought I would check. Thanks all!

i've had this issue before, and there are several approaches u could take:

- add an IDC entry to send her DID calls to another desk or location (not the best since all DID calls to her w/go somewhere else, you don't get to pick and choose)

- call it in to your LEC's nuisance center if u know who's making the harassing calls and report the problem

- have her CFW her phone to someone else

- add an IDC entry of the entire phone number that's calling and send it wherever you want

overall, this issue is not easy to address, but there could b other good recommendations on here as well

You can't control a number thru IDC if it isn't tagged DNIS. You can control it with Symposium or telco Vendor.

have her answer the call, not speak and transfer the caller to 911... the calls will stop.. you could use symposium the screen a single caller, but that's a lot of work for a single caller... i would look at her mb cos, limit msgs to 2 min max.. that might help..

the transfer to 911 does work...

That's a great idea John. Out here in California, however, they get bent out of shape if you call 911 and it's not a life threatening emergency. However, even transfering to the police department's non-emergency number may work just as effectively. In Sacramento, that's answered by a recording: "You have reached the Sacramento Police Department..." May work just was well, and you're not tying up 911 operators who may then want to investigate the hang-up.

Why transfer to the Police. set up a voicemail box and record the greeting "You have reached the Sacramento Police Department..." See if that works. The caller should not be able to tell the difference.

Yeah, the thing is this is a line for the public to reach the courts. So we cannot change the mailbox just for one individual.

I was saying don't let the call roll over to you voice mail box. Answer the call then transfer it to the dummy voice mail box with the greeting of "You have reached the Sacramento Police Department..." The caller will most likely get spooked and my not call back again.

As PBlaney said have her look at the caller ID before she answers any call and when the pest calls, then pickup the phone and don't say anything and just transfer to a Vmail box you setup for her with the Recording "You have reached the Sacramento Police Department" Please hold while we trace this call.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

How does it block a call, I have never seen that.

We actually did start to transfer to the sheriffs office. I would on occasion call him back and just sit silent on the line. That got him all fired up. Good for some laughs on a Monday.
