I have a quick question. I am not at all experienced with cross connectionsthus mu question....How would I find let's say TN 000 0 03 05 on a 66 block? I know its loop, shelf, card, unit, but I can't wrap my head around finding it and punching it down.I have traced the line that I am needing to be active, and my copper connection on my 25 pair block needs to be connected to the 66 block but I do not know where to punch down. I have a free TN...now what.

Thanks for any advice

The only way I know if the blocks are not marked as they should be. You will have to follow the cable from the I/O Port of the switch panel back to the 66 blocks.

Depending on the block type, 66, 110 or some other variety. They may be marked differently. We always marked the little ear of the 66 block with the loop and shelf # and then marked the actual block with the card and unit. You will see them done differently as installers have their preferred method.

Yea when the blocks are not marked or there's an IDF no one knows about that's when a 10 minute job turns into a couple of hours.

If you have an active TN on the same card, hopefully near your new TN, tone that line and that should get you to the right area, and count up or down from active TN. Bring the new phone to the cross-connect area and test from there, saves a lot of legwork.

Using DHRogers method ..... when you are finished make sure you label the block so you will recognize it again next time. Hopefully they are in sequential order and you can quickly figure out the rest.

Hey Cliff how did you fix the issue you posted here in BCM forum I started a new thread if you could reply there instead of here
Thanks
