I have Exchange 2003 Enterprise and I need to know if there is a way to block a user from sending outside the organization to a particular e-mail address. This particular employee keeps sending documents home and my administration wants me to block her from being able to send to her personal mail account.

Anyone have any ideas on how to do this?

Thanks in advance!

I have never done this, but will this work?

Exchange System Manager
expand global settings and then do properties on message delivery. hit the [Receipient Filtering] tab and then put in her home email address here.

Let me know if this works, kinda curious for myself ;)

Nope, just tried it. From what I can gather, that is for blocking people from the outside emailing stuff inside. Anyone else have any ideas??

[Sender Filtering] tab
That says its for "Block messages that claim to be FROM the following senders"

But the [Recipient Filtering] tab states:
Block messages that are sent TO the following recipients

So I was correct in suggesting the receipient filtering tab, but looking at the [Help] button on this tab, it tells us why it doesnt work :(

"Note Recipient filter rules apply only to anonymous connections. Authenticated users and Exchange servers bypass these validations."

JERKS!!! :)

You could try putting her home email account as a secondary SMTP alias on her user account. I think that would cause all mail that she tries to send home to send back to her mailbox.

Don't forget to disallow access to her webmail server through your proxy or firewall.

PSC,

That was a slick idea! I set it and waited for the RUS service to pick up the changes and tried it on my personal account and it came right back into my Exchange mailbox. Great idea. I will set it for her today and her web access is already disabled, but I do see your point on that as well.

Thanks again.
