Hi all,
We just move to Exch 2003 with SP2 and IMF enabled.
the big boss asking us to block all mailing list such yahoogroups.com!

I try to set SenderID filtering by adding domain yahoogroups.com...but it does not work because the sender address is not from yahoogroups.com but from each member of yahoogroups.com!

does anyone know how to block some mailing list in exchange 2003?

thanks in advance

You'll have to add each mailgroup or if there is a pattern like:

@jokes.yahoo.com
@fun.yahoo.com

You could try experimenting wqith a wildcard such as
*.yahoo.com

Alternatively if they're all coming from a specific server you could block that ip.

Other than that you'd have to look at a third party mailfilter.

Hi Spirit,

thank your for the response,
I have tried before, but it does not work.

because, the sender address is not from yahoogroups.com!

You mean like

bobsgroup.com
billysmegagroup

Yuck! Only way then is to find each one and block them individually.

Yes,
Looking for third party, I think...

thanks anyway

GFI is worth a look at

It is a good spam filter, and the "New Senders" bit may do what you want, although it will involve some admin from you to weed out the non-newsgroup new senders, depending on how you set it up. They do a 30 day free evaluation that you can download

Have a good read of the documentation before you do anything, and make sure that it is right solution for you.

You can switch off all the other modules and just run the New Senders bit, although you will need one whitelist active.

You may find the initial admin overhead is too high for your situation.
