CM5.1.1

I have a user that would like to block a certain number from the PSTN, i know i can create a VDN & all that, but is there something new in 5.1.1 that would enable me at the trunk level to block a number from coming in?

I use Terminal Emulation to pull up the various "disp whatever" screens, then highlight and copy.

Then I paste each screen seperatly, using [ignore]
Code:
* paste results *
[/ignore] tags.

You can also use [ignore]
[/ignore] tags if you can post the images on a public server.

Could you also post page 2 for the off-pbx station-mapping for x0002?

 0002 2 termination all both

Okay, that's the problem..... make the following changes:

Mapping Mode = orgination
Calls Allowed = none
Bridged Calls = none

I think that Mapping Mode is really the only important setting, but change the others anyway.

Do your Paetec circuits bring you Caller ID?

Yes, i changed the ars to fnpa & now it is blocked going to Paetec. But what do i do if the abuser has a number in my home npa? i guess make an entry in the ars just for that number & change it to fnpa?

That's what I would do.

This does not work. Anyone have any other ideas? I have harrassing caller issues as well.

craigdred you could try setting up a vdn and a vector a call filter.

There have been a lot of posts regarding this lately. The way I understand it there's two ways (probably more) to do this.

1. Setup the unwanted number as an x-ported station and block it using EC500.

This is a global setting and should block it system wide. The bad thing is that it uses up a station license because it's x-ported. At least that's how it is in CM4. The good thing is that you don't have to a whole lot of configuration. Once the station is configured and EC500 setup you're done. The number can't call in anymore.

2. Use a vector and a VRT to block the number.

This will only work if you forward the call to the vector prior to forwarding it to the station. So NOT a global setting. It doesn't use a station license but again you would have to change the incoming trunk handling for each DID you wanted to pass through the filter first. Bonus is that a VRT can hold 100 numbers. And if you fill that you can just added another VRT and have the vector run the ANI over both lists and so on.
