CM5.1.1

I have a user that would like to block a certain number from the PSTN, i know i can create a VDN & all that, but is there something new in 5.1.1 that would enable me at the trunk level to block a number from coming in?

Have you looked at thread690-543688? Using EC500/XMobile.

and you have their shoes.”

Thanks, but the XMOBILE option would not work, First in order to add EC500, the harassing user would need added as a user, i cannot use the number due to dial plan restrictions.

The extension that has EC500 enabled can be any valid extension in the PBX, I use a non-did number. What does your dial plan look like?

1. Add the extension as a IP phone or x-ported station, we'll use 5551000.

2. Change off-pbx-telephone station-mapping 5551000 (5551000 is the extension and 9995551111 is the offending number)
Code:
change off-pbx-telephone station-mapping 4912138 Page 1 of 2
                  STATIONS WITH OFF-PBX TELEPHONE INTEGRATION

Station Application Dial Phone Number Trunk Configuration
 Extension Prefix Selection Set
 5551000 EC500 - 9995551111 ars 1

3. Create a new COR with Calling Party Restriction: origination and apply it to the station
Code:
change cor 600 Page 1 of 22

                                    Group Controlled Restriction: inactive

4. Enable EC500 via FAC.

5. Done.

**Yes I typo'd the change cor command**

;-)~

Don't callers like this really deserve a COR of 666!!!

Do you have multiple entry points from your DID's, eg. T-1's and ISDN-PRI's or only PRI's? On the calls that do come through, does it show the CallerID?

Set the extension up that you added as a bridged appearance on your phone and look for the CallerID information that comes in when the call rings through. If there is no CallerID then that's the problem. I assume you are using your cell phone to test?

Disregard the bridged appearances (too many issue going on here at work)

If you are dialing your own extension from the number that is being test blocked (your cell) it should ring busy every time. If it gets through, it may be a CallerID delivery issue with the cell phone provider or your LEC.

here is what i did, i have 2 phones on my desk.

X5551000 - set up with new COR as indicated

X5551001 - Abusive caller

X5551000 - added to off stat, with X1001 as the phone number

X5551001 is set up in the public-unknown to send 5551001 as the caller ID

List trace on X5551000 shows 5551001 coming in

it's hit or miss, sometimes the call gets rejected, sometimes it rings

Try it with your cell phone or other external phone.

Set your cell phone up as the abusive caller (all of the digits that you recieve when you call your desk).

You should get a list trace similar to this when you do a list trace tac

Code:
                                LIST TRACE

time data

15:46:21 Calling party station 5551001 cid 0x2548
15:46:21 Calling Number & Name 5551001 Test
15:46:21 active station 5551001 cid 0x2548
15:46:21 dial 5551000
15:46:21 denial event 1732: Caller COR Restricted D1=0x8993 D2=0x8993
15:46:21 dial 5551000
15:46:21 term station 5551001 cid 0x2548
15:46:21 idle station 5551001 cid 0x2548

Your cell number won't appear in the call-trace, it maps it immediately to 5551001.

ok, i have to use someone elses since i have EC500 set up & it would look like an internal call, i will let you know how it goes.

i tried with someone else's cell, but by having origination restricted now this person cannot call out.

so if i add this to a dummy number, it doesnt matter, just by having this set up on any number will restrict the incoming call?

I was able to block inbound calls using this setup with the off-PBX station method.....

Code:
display cor 2 Page 1 of 22
