Hi , I have a ddi number and a manager has requested we block all incoming external calls to this number . They want to keep the same number but. Can someone advise the best way to block external calls to a single extension. Thanks
Do you use VDN's and Vectors? If so I do this by adding the DDI number to a VRT table (add vrt x). Then use the command step "go to step xx if ani in table y". Step xx could be a simple disconnect command.
If you have ISDN trunks you could re-route the incoming calls to a specific DDI by editing the Incoming Call Handling Treatment table. The downside is that you need to re-direct the calls to another extension or VDN. Good luck.
It sounds like you are saying that the extension has a did but you don't want it to receive external calls. If that is the case then remove its incoming call handling treatment defined on the trunk.
Another approach could be to assign this station a new COR. With the "Called Party Restriction" parameter on the first page of the COR you can restrict calls from the public network.
Regardless of the type of trunk if you have to block the caller to recieve external calls. you can create a new COR & assign it to the phone (who is to be blocked for external calls) & change the COR of trunks to not allow calling permission for this new COR. This way you can get more extensions to the same COR if required in future.
