Anyone know how to block potentially 1000s of outgoing numbers individually so that when a customer asks your company to put them on a "Do Not Call" list you don't accidentally call them again?
Thanks for your response. Will that work well with that many numbers? I was afraid it might slow the system down, I just want to make sure that won't have a bad effect on the system.
if you have 1000s of numbers to be blocked then it will slow the system down and there is a limit on how many numbers you can setup as shortcodes.
1000 shortcodes use 39.1 Kb of your config
IP 406V2 max config size = 256 Kb
IP 412 and 500 max config size = 1Mb
Check the size of your config and see how many you can make.
I think the best way to approach this is to keep your own database of Do Not Call numbers and then scrub your calling list. If you do not have a previous business relationship with the people you are calling, it would be wise to use the national Do Not Call list first and then apply your personal Do Not Call list.
The fines for ignoring Do Not Call requests can be substantial. This is one area where it pays to invest in the technology to scrub lists. I would not try to do this in the phone switch.
Good point Bob. Do you have any suggestions on a good company or program to go with for accomplishing that outside of the phone system? Thanks to both of you.
