I have a client with a Partner R6 with 5 extensions and all incoming calls come to the auto-attendant. No phones ring until the call comes to the extension from the attendant. However, the boss wants all calls answered and then transfered back to voicemail if necessary.

So what they want is for me to program a light on each phone for all other extensions as they ring so the call can be picked up if that person is out of their office and ignored I guess if they are in. I have tried call pickup but it does not seem to blink on ring. I have also tried group pickup with 1 extension in each group and again no blinkin light. I am searching for ideas here. thanks

That is not a feature available on the Partner ACS. Probably it would be easier to just answer the ringing lines live, since they flash on incoming. Would that work?

Since the auto-attendant picks up there is really no pickup time and then that defeats the use of the attendant.

Then you should explain the realities of the way the phone system functions and its limitations depending on how options are programmed, then he can decide what to do. If we could all snap our fingers and make this stuff do anything we would! But that is not reality.

I truly understand and very much appreciate the input..

After almost 30 years, I have finally learned to blame things customers don't want or don't like on the developers - this way I can end the discussions quickly, get my check, and go to the bar to celebrate my independence.

I ended up explaining to them that it was discriminatory to just pickup calls based on extension lights and ultimately any call needed to be picked up if it was ringing as the boss explained to me. Since the Partner lights the incoming line until the extension or VM picks up they could pick it up from there.
Thanks for the reminder, I need to send them the invoice today and I will toast to it with a drink.
