Error is generated by 'svchost.exe' within few minuts when i connect to internet. it says "svchost.exe have generated error & The window will be closed".
It actually never closes the window but JavaScript inside any webpage can't be executed.(no buttons can be clicked)
It doesn't allow to disconnect the dialup intenet connection. Only way to disconnect is to cut the power supply to the modem.
when the error is generated, Search file option can not be used. Also no files can be seen in program files,WINNT folders.
First I formatted partition and reinstalled o/s(win2k professional& sp3).
I've also downloaded & installed the patch from Microsoft.
Norton AV too is installed and updated on 9th Oct. 2003.
still no go.
Removal tool by Symantech, when run says "W32.Blaster.Worm has not been found on your computer".
Event log is full with error saying "The Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service terminated unexpectedly".
I 've observed that there are atleast three svchost.exe processes running at any point of time.
has it got any thing to do with the worm ? or any other virus has infected my system ?
Pls.help.

Some trojans masquerade as svchost.exe, but three svchosts running is not unusual. Try an online virus scan, get a port monitoring program like "active ports", and try a system restore if possible.
