Blank Space Before and After a single record

I have the following output from my table in the database

STUDNO AGE HEIGHT WEIGHT RACE
- -- ----- ---------- ---------- ----------
1 32 170 60 Asian
2 31 171 60 African
3 30 172 70 Asian
10 29 173 50 Asian
11 28 174 50 Asian
12 27 175 60 Asian
But when i try to capture the data of studno 10 in Crystal Reports
I get the following output




10 29 173 50 Asian







Why is the result showing so much space in the subreport
I have this problem with many of my subreports. If i select a value which is the 10 record or 15 th record why is Crystal Report showing empty space before and after the particular record. If this problem is addressed then my
alignment problem is solved 100 %
can someone tell me what the problem is

Try formatting the pertinent section in the subreport to 'suppress blank section.'

No this has not helped me is there any other way to solve this. What do i do regd this. Also when i select suppress records if duplicated option the records get suppressed in the sub report but when i view the main report one extra record is displayed.Why is this happening Can anybody help me

try this.

right click detail section
go to format section.
see supress section. click the formula.

I don't know what version you are using, but in 8.5 there is a bug. You have to go to the subreport and manually compress all the sections you aren't using(drag them closed), such as Page or report headers/footers, etc.
